12/22/2023 0 Comments Solarcell output efficiency![]() The Egyptian National Institute of Standards (NIS) has established and developed a system for calibrating reference solar cells using photodiode detectors traceable to the absolute cryogenic radiometer (ACR). The efficiency of the cell obtained to be 13%. The result shows that the base component has the main contributing to the total current in almost all wavelengths except in the shorter wavelengths, where the emitter layer contribution dominates. From I-V curve the efficiency of the cell is proportional to the value of the three main photovoltaic parameters: short circuit current Isc, open circuit voltage V.c, fill factor FF and efficiency rl have been determined. While I-V curve shows the electrical characteristics of a solar cell, by determining the solar ce11's output performance and solar efficiency, the spectral response and quantum efficiency curves show how the cell react with the light spectrum. ![]() By solving solar cell's equations: Poisson's equation, current density equations, and continuity equations for both types of charge carriers, the results were obtained for each of the current contribution for parts of the cell, internal quantum efficiency, internal spectral response, and the characteristic I-V curve of cell. The single junction crystalline silicon solar cell with (np) type has been studied with analytical method, for three regions of solar cell, which are emitter, base and space charge region (SCR) region. The aim of this paper is to understand how the solar cell works and how the performance of the cell can be analyzed in terms of basic parameters.
